Day Four: Verse Two
Scriptures: Isaiah 40:31, Isaiah 40:12, Isaiah 40:26, Mark 4:41, Jeremiah 29:13
What evidence do you have that God is in control? Whose perspective do you rely on? At what point are you ready to surrender your all and submit to God's Will? How do you respond to the storms of life? Reaffirm God's Goodness and Truth in your life.
I don't know if you've ever written a song, but the second verse is usually the most difficult because the writer is trying to continue painting a picture without being repetitive. The story has to move forward from the chorus without straying from the overall theme.
So, for this verse I continued to read up in Isaiah 40 to see what resonated with me, what I hadn't said yet and how I could continue to explain our hope in God. I read about God holding the oceans in His hands and measuring the heavens (Isaiah 40:12). I read about God creating the stars and calling them by name (Isaiah 40:26). It made me think, "God made every beautiful, majestic wonder we see, and yet, He deeply cares about me."
All I see
Was created by Your Hands
The winds and waves obey Your commands
God is so powerful! And the evidence is all around us. He sees all and knows all; past, present and future. How could we ever think that He cannot handle our issues when even the winds and the waves have to obey Him (Mark 4:41)?
So I give all, all of me
This revelation helped me realize that I had to put everything into His Hands. And, I had to commit to not trying to take it out of His Hands. There are some cares that are easy to surrender, but with others, it's hard to give up our illusion of control. Yet, to serve God and enjoy God fully, we must lay it all down. And, that is hard. Especially, when it feels like we're facing storm after storm.
As clouds roll in, I’ll cling to Your Truth
The fiercest storms make the deepest roots
But, one thing I know for sure is that if we seek the Lord we will find Him (Jeremiah 29:13). While going through the storm, we find God by holding on to His Word, His Truth. As we seek God and cling to Him, all the rain from the storms just waters our connection to Him. Our roots in Him grow stronger and deeper. Then, when storm clouds start to rise again, we know we can abide in the Vine. This closeness leads back to the realization that we must wait on and trust in God.
And, I’ll wait, and I'll place my trust in You, in You
He is the God of the Universe. Nothing and no one is more powerful than Him. He sees our situation from every angle. And, if we fully submit to Him, God will give us strength to soar!
Lord, Our Creator, thank You for a universe full of evidence that You are in control! Please help us surrender our all to You in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
